Pokémon Sword & Shield Find Explains The Game Names, Baffles Players

A discovery in Pokémon Sword and Shield explains why the games and DLC are named the way they are, which surprises and baffles many players.

Players were perplexed by a Pokémon Sword and Shield discovery because of the way it explained the names of the games and DLC. Pokémon Sword and Shield marked the beginning of the eighth generation of Pokémon, and the ninth generation will be released in 2022, just in time for the holidays.

With its mainline entries, the eighth generation had its fair share of highs and lows, with Pokémon Legends: Arceus receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews from many players.

Due to the removal of the national dex from the base game of Pokémon Sword and Shield, there was a great deal of controversy surrounding it prior to its release. There were two DLC expansions released following the release of the base game: Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra.

Each DLC added a new wild area to explore, complete with returning Pokémon that weren’t present in the base game. In addition, several new variants and legendary Pokémon were introduced in the Crown Tundra. Because of the amount of new content included in both DLC packs, they were both generally more well-received than the base game.

A post from Reddit user Renelie89 shows the reason why the games are named the way they are in the statue depicting Galar’s hero, and the reason for this can be found in the statue. Surely, the hero is holding a sword and a shield, but the picture also highlights the fact that he is covered in shields and wearing a crown, which may explain why the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra DLC packs are titled as such: Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra, respectively. All of which are tools befitting of a knight’s profession. As a result of this revelation, fans in the comments section have expressed surprise and disbelief.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the first members of the next generation of Pokémon, were recently revealed as part of the Pokémon saga. According to the first trailer, it would seem that these games will draw inspiration from Pokémon Legends: Arceus for their gameplay. It’s been noted that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are “open-world” games, but it is unclear how much of an open-world the players will actually feature.

From the first trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, we don’t know much about the actors. Nor its gameplay style, nor its legendaries, nor its origins as a result of the names of these games are worth mentioning. Legendaries for mascots are usually revealed during the first demonstration of a new mainline Pokémon game, so not seeing them right away is unusual. However, the three new Pokémon starters revealed in the trailer have gained widespread attention for their distinctive designs, and the fact that the game is set in Spain could provide a hint as to the overall theme of the game. Pokémon has gone through a number of different naming schemes over the course of the game’s history, including letters, colors, jewels, and other objects. It will be fascinating to see what Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have to offer in terms of themes in the future.
